Arunachal: APPSC SOP for conduct of exams almost ready, says CM Pema Khandu

CM Khandu said that the newly constituted Comission is already on its job and that necessary advertisements for recruitment will be out once everything falls in place.

In a significant statement, just 2 days before Arunachal Pradesh is going for the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections on April 19, Chief Minister Pema Khandu today assured that thousands of vacant posts under the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) will be filled up soon.

CM Khandu said that the newly constituted Comission is already on its job and that necessary advertisements for recruitment will be out once everything falls in place.

The Arunachal Pradesh CM said, “On behalf of the government, I had said that there will be complete overhauling and following this, the then APPSC Secretary and all officers down the line, we changed everyone. The Commission has been constituted newly. The new Chairman and Member have already taken over. A complete new team has taken over the responsibilities. Now the Commission says that they will frame a new SOP and conduct examinations after that. By and large, we have come to know that their SOP is almost ready and will issue advertisements for filling up thousands of vacant posts under the APPSC.”

CM Pema Khandu also maintained that apex investigating agency CBI as well as the NIA are already probing the infamous paper leak case.

“A paper selling matter or you can say it as a paper leakage in the APPSC was reported in the month of September, 2022. Soon the matter came to our notice, we have done thorough investigation into the matter. Several organisations had demanded that a central agency must take over the matter (investigation). Accordingly, we requested the CBI to look into the issue. To trace the money trail, the NIA has also been approached for investigation. Both the top investigating agencies of the Centre- the CBI and the NIA are probing the case.

In case of reformation, since the APPSC is an autonomous body, the government does not have direct control over it. So I had personally requested the then APPSC members that it will be good that they owe responsibility and if they resign than it will send a positive message to the people especially the youths. After that the then Chairman and members had resigned,” CM Khandu stated.

On February 23, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu in a statement surrounding protests over the APPSC paper leak case, had said that the youths of the state were being misled and confusion was being created over the issue.

This was CM Khandu’s first response after the PAJSC staged protest since February 18 in Itanagar including boycott of the 38th Statehood Day celebrations on February 20.
