Arunachal Elections 2024: Home voting in West Kameng district, 27 senior citizens cast their ballots

With just a few days left for the simultaneous Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in the Northeastern state of Arunachal Pradesh, 27 senior citizens cast their ballots on Tuesday during the process of home voting in different constituencies of West Kameng district in Arunachal Pradesh.
The on duty polling officers visited houses at different corners of Bomdila, Dirang, Kalaktang and Thrizino-Buraagaon constituencies of West Kameng district.
Meanwhile, senior citizens also expressed their gratitude to administration and officers for giving them equal voting opportunities and rights.
The Election Commission of India has introduced the “Vote-from-Home” option through postal ballots, specifically targeting two distinct voter groups: individuals aged 85 years and older, and persons with disabilities with a minimum disability rating of 40 percent.
This proactive initiative by the ECI aims to enhance inclusivity within the electoral process and ensure that every eligible citizen can exercise their inherent right to vote. This approach not only empowers individuals facing physical limitations or advanced age to participate in the electoral process but also reaffirms the commitment to uphold democratic principles of representation and inclusion.
Polling for the 50 assembly seats and 2 Lok Sabha seats in Arunachal Pradesh will be held on April 19 and results will for the Assembly polls will be declared on June 2 and for the LS polls on June 4.
The ruling BJP has won 10 seats unopposed to the 60-member Arunachal Assembly.
