Tripura: 89th ‘Utkal Divas’ celebrated with traditional splendour

The 89th ‘Utkal Divas’ of Odisha was celebrated with much enthusiasm and traditional splendour on Monday evening in the Northeastern state of Tripura. The state of Tripura came alive with vibrant traditional dances, melodious songs, and cultural performances.
‘Utkal Divas’ is observed every year on April 1 to mark the formation of Odisha state from the erstwhile Bengal-Bihar-Orissa province in 1936. The day signifies the establishment of Odisha as a separate state, rooted in its rich linguistic and cultural heritage.
The ‘Utkal Divas’ was organized by the Odia Samaj Tripura at the prestigious Muktadhara auditorium. The Governor of Tripura, Indra Sena Reddy Nallu, inaugurated the event, which witnessed the presence of several esteemed dignitaries.
While addressing at the event ,Governor Nallu appreciated the organizers for their efforts in preserving and promoting Odisha’s rich cultural legacy.
The festivities commenced with the release of a souvenir titled “Chakadola” by the dignitaries, followed by cultural performances by Odissi artists from both Odisha and Tripura showcasing the diverse and vibrant traditions of Odisha .
Since its inception in 2011, the ‘Utkal Divas’ festival in Tripura has served as a platform to showcase the rich art, culture, and literature of Odisha to audiences beyond its borders.
With its mission to foster cultural exchange and bridge communities from different regions, the festival continues to play a vital role in promoting harmony and unity among diverse cultures.
