Major fire breaks out in Sikkim forests

The fire brigade has been unable to reach the affected areas so far.

A massive forest fire has been reported from Rimbi and Thingling-Khechu-peri in West Sikkim, which broke out in the morning on Sunday and has been growing ever since.

As per inputs, people staying in the area have been advised to exercise extreme caution due to uncontrolled spreading of the fire.

The fire brigade has been unable to reach the affected areas so far.

There has been no report of casualty yet.

On April 2, 2021, a forest fire had broken out at Tingley in South Sikkim. The devastating fire caused extensive damage to the nearby Namthang Nagi forest areas, destroying huge number of trees and timbers belonging to a monastery.
