Arunachal Assembly Poll 2024: Cong recommends Yumlam Achung as candidate for Itanagar seat

APCC President Nabam Tuki said that Achung is likely to get the party ticket as he has contested in the 2019 Assembly election from Itanagar

Arunachal Congress is batting for Yumlam Achung as the party’s candidate for the Itanagar Assembly seat. This was informed by Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Nabam Tuki at the candidate declaration programme held in Itanagar on Tuesday.

Achung had contested from the Itanagar seat in the 2019 Assembly election and managed to poll 2,173 votes. He lost to then JD-U candidate Techi Kaso who polled 12,162. Kaso is now a BJP leader and is the sitting MLA of Itanagar.

Achung is the General Secretary of APCC and in-charge of City Congress Committee (CCC).
While speaking to media APCC President Nabam Tuki stressed that Yumlam Achung is likely to secure party ticket as he has contested in the last election.

On Monday, the Arunachal Pradesh unit of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has declared the names of eight candidates for the upcoming assembly elections.

The first list of candidates was declared by the party during a mass joining programme which include former MLA Likha Saaya, former minister Tapang Taloh, Loma Gollo, Nyasam Jongsam, Ngolin Boi, Aju Chije, Mongol Yomso and Salman Mongrey.
