The opposition Tipra Motha is all set to join the BJP-led government and the move comes just days after the signing of the historic Tipra Accord signed in Delhi on Saturday.

Leader of opposition Animesh Debbarma and Motha MLA Brishaketu Debbarma will be inducted in the Manik Saha cabinet tomorrow taking the number of ministers to 11.

With Motha joining the Manik Saha government, the strength of the coalition will go up to 46 as the Motha as 13 MLAs in the Assembly.

The historic Tipra Agreement has paved the way for the Motha to join the BJP-led government in the state.

The development comes as a big boost to the BJP just ahead of the Lok Sabha polls. And amid the latest development, speculations are also doing rounds that the Tipra Motha may contest the Tripura East seat with sister of Tipra founder Pradyot Debbarma, Pragya Debbarma likely to be the party candidate.
The swearing in ceremony will take place tomorrow at 9:30 am at the North Block.

Animesh Debbarma is the current leader of opposition and has been the former Deputy CEM of the TTAADC. He has been vocal on the issues related to the indigenous populace of the state and spoke on critical issues.

Animesh Debbarma had joined Tipra Motha before the TTAADC election and went on to rise up the ladder in the party. He is a 2-time MLA and had had his first stint as a member of legislative assembly back in 2003.

Brishaketu Debbarma, he has been a lawyer, an activist and a politician and was the first to leave IPFT back in 2021 and join the Tipra Motha. Brishaketu Debbarma had won from Simna assembly seat on an IPFT ticket in 2018 and repeated the feat in 2023 on a Tipra Motha ticket.
