SKM spokesperson Yogen Tamang said that the Bhutia should be able to back his allegation with evidence

The ruling Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) in Sikkim has challenged Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) leader and former India football star Bhaichung Bhutia to prove his allegation that the party used fake voters in the last election and was planning to do the same this time.

SKM spokesperson Yogen Tamang said that the Bhutia should be able to back his allegation with evidence.

Speaking to Northeast Live, Tamang said, “I would strongly advise Bhaichung Bhutia to look at the history of the SDF party, which he joined, and proudly saying that the party is really going forward. I advise him to investigate the political blunder of the previous 25 years of his party.”

“Regarding fake voters, he ought to be informed on the facts and data, including how they enter Sikkim and how their documents come up. We really want to look into it. We don’t want to play politics with exaggerated claims and lies”, he added.

“Let the Sikkim citizen also look into the facts. However, for the time being, I totally condemn the accusations he made in the open”, he further added.

Last week, Bhaichung Bhutia has accused Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang and his party Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) of bringing in fake voters from outside the state during the 2019 elections.
He alleged that the SKM party is hiring voters from outside Sikkim this time as well and the number of voters has increased by 28,000.
