Physically challenged Assam beggar hits jackpot, pays Rs 1000, wins Mahindra Thar

Lady luck smiled on a physically-challenged beggar from Assam, as he won a Mahindra Thar worth Rs 18 lakh from a lottery ticket he bought for Rs. 1000 in Bongaigaon district.

The lucky man has been identified as Jumruddin, a resident of Nagarbera in Barpeta district.
With hopes, Jumuruddin had bought a book of lottery tickets at Rs. 1000 in Bongaigaon’s Jalakhata village. As per inputs, per lottery ticket cost Rs 100.

Last year, on December 11, a tractor driver won a Rs. 76 lakh Range Rover car from a lottery ticket he bought for just Rs. 100 in Howly Raas Mahotsav in Assam’s Barpeta district.

The tractor driver, Inzamul Haque, from Kaljar bought the lottery ticket from Howly Raas Mahotsav for Rs. 100.

Speaking to the media, Inzamul said, “I waited for at least 5 hours to buy two tickets in Howly Raas Mahotsav. Yesterday night, one of the friends informed me that I won and sent a photo of the results. After hearing the news, I could not sleep the entire night.”

Other luxurious cars to be won as prizes in the lottery included a Toyota Fortuner, a Scorpio, a Skoda Kushaq and many others.

The Organizing Committee of the Howly Raas festival, which takes place during the time of Raas Mahotsav, organizes a lottery competition every year and this year marked the 95th anniversary of the annual festival. Prizes included as many as 21 luxury cars this year.
