Manipur: Combing operations underway to nab Moreh miscreants

Security adviser Kuldiep Singh said that there is confirmation yet on the involvement of Myanmar mercenaries in the attack on forces in Moreh
Mass combing operations are underway in and around Moreh to nab the armed men launching intermittent attacks on security forces. This was informed by Chief Minister N Biren Singh on the sidelines of a programme in Imphal today. CM N Biren said that Combined teams of security forces comprising Assam Rifles, Border Security Force and state police commandos are jointly taking on the militants.
Speaking to media, Singh said, “ Some militants have attacked state police and central police forces and it is our primary duty to protect the people and land of the state. So Assam Rifles, Border Security Force and state forces are jointly countering the attack of the militants.”
Meanwhile, in a significant statement Security adviser Kuldiep Singh said that there is confirmation yet on the involvement of Myanmar mercenaries in the attack on forces in Moreh. Singh said that village volunteers along with militants from nearby districts are looking to target state police commandos in the area. The security adviser said that all involved in the attacks will be taken to task.
And amid the continued tension in the border town, Commander of Indian Army’s 3 core, Lieutenant General Harjeet Singh Sahi visited Moreh today.
Lieutenant General Harjeet Singh Sahi, took stock of the situation in Moreh and also held a Security meet at the Assam Rifles Camp in the border town.
Earlier on Sunday, heavy cross firing was reported from Moreh after armed miscreants targeted barracks of security forces. Combined teams of security forces comprising Assam Rifles, BSF and state police commandos retaliated to the firing. Gunbattle resumed in the morning yesterday after armed miscreants targetted security teams who were on patrolling duty.
