The ruling Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) is on a mission mode to woo the voters of the Himalayan state Sikkim ahead of the state legislative assembly elections likely to be held early this year.

To consolidate the position further, the SKM is reaching out to the masses by highlighting the development agenda and the welfare push initiated by Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang since coming to power in 2019.

Sikkim Tourism Minister BS Panth, SKM spokesperson Jacob Khaling are some of the key leaders who are travelling to the nook and corners of the state to accomplish the SKM’s mission to retain power.

Constituency level meetings are underway in full swing since yesterday, a similar public meeting was held today at Tumin Barang under the Tumin-Lingee constituency.

Meanwhile, SKM spokesperson Jacob Khaling maintained that his party is very much a part of the NDA and that both the BJP and the SKM work in close coordination. Khaling said this when his response was sought on BJP naming its candidate for the Rajya Sabha polls.

On January 4, SKM supremo and Chief Minister PS Tamang himself had engaged in discussions with his party functionaries including his cabinet ministers and the party MLAs and prepare a roadmap for the upcoming elections.

In his address to the MLAs and other party leaders at a meeting in Mintokgang, PS Tamang urged the members to dedicate maximum time to party activities. CM Tamang also encouraged legislators to engage in continued discussions and meetings with various wings of the party.

Tamang also conveyed that the SKM party workers must not pay any heed to rumors allegedly spread by the Opposition and instead believe in strong teamwork for success in the election.
